New York City: here I come!

Zachary White-Stellato (GRS 2012) sent the following update:

Zach just took a 9th grade teaching  job  in NYC at New Vision Charter School for Advanced Math & Science!!

“I’m really excited/nervous because it’s a new charter school, so who knows what to expect… not to mention moving from Rochester where I’ve been for the past 5 years. But It’s exciting!”

Zach will be teaching 9th grade physics in the Bronx, developing a 2-year interdisciplinary Physics/Living Environment course.  Over two years, he will loop with his students, teaching them physics year one and  Living Environment year two.

Zach shared his reflections on his experiences in GetReal! Science:

“This year was really incredible. I was blown away by the support structures and practical experience that I had in GRS. These two things are what really separates it from other programs, I think.  STARS was a ton of work and it was really difficult but I think that it was a formative experience for my first student teaching placement, which helped me be prepared and ready to tackle that next challenge.! I’ll also take away from this how close we become with all of our professors and advisers, who become more like friends.”

Zach is committed to ongoing, substantive collaboration with his GRS Network. We can’t wait to get his updates: find them on his GRS blog.

Congrats Zach!

Go team go!!
